We have a terminal server farm that several end-users log into. Each user has a special webcam attached to their machine via USB. We use internally-developed application that scans QR codes and takes pictures of postages by taking shots from a video stream. Then it stores taken shots and codes to remote database.

RDP does not support webcam redirection so we tried to redirect our webcams as USB devices at the beginning. Unfortunately such type of redirection requires huge network channel in order to work smooth, also it’s very sensitive to network latency.

Then we found Webcam for Remote Desktop. It was advertised that the software works even on slow network connection. Thus, we have installed it, and it works flawlessly. It has been very easy to setup and use.
